Tokyo / Kyoto Things!

The rest of our trip out to Tokyo consisted of touristy things since Neil and the family and Scottie had never been out this way before. We roamed around the city, ate, saw rad things and even took a day trip out to Kyoto to change it up a little. Overall, it was yet another amazing trip to a country that never ceases to amaze me. I’ve been fortunate enough to come here four times now and I’m nowhere near tired of this beautiful country.

Tokyo Auto Salon 2015!

As I mentioned earlier, the main reason why we went out to Japan again was for Tokyo Auto Salon. I’ve been fortunate enough to go to the event four times now thanks to my best lady friend, Jason Siu and the AutoGuide.com staff except this year we also had another reason – COPLUS Lighting flew our Honda Fit out to the event to be displayed in their booth.

Having done our fair share of traveling to other cities and states throughout our time doing automotive things, this is only the second time that we’ve had someone take one of our cars overseas, particularly Asia – the last time we had our Chevrolet Camaro taken to Shanghai.

Overall the show was awesome as always. Tons of incredible builds, lots of new things to look at and as always, being entertained by the hundreds of horny Asian dudes taking pictures of the models.

Toyko Disneyland!

Going to Japan had always been on the bucket list that I never had and after missing several opportunities to go in my twenties, I’ve been fortunate to go four out of the last five years. This year I wasn’t able to bring Kim and Jude with me but Neil, Mei, Collin, Kylie and our good friend, Scottie made the trip out. Pretty much every trip I’ve made been out there has been to cover Tokyo Auto Salon for AutoGuide.com but this year was also special because CoPlus Lighting transported the Honda Fit SEMA project out there as a display vehicle for their booth.

As usual, we flew in to Tokyo the day before just to get settled in so once we arrived we got to the hotel and got some rest for what was to come. Early the following day, we had until early afternoon to roam around so we figured we’d make the most of it and headed to Tokyo Disneyland. Having season passes to Disneyland here in Southern California, we tend to go pretty often but Tokyo Disneyland is on a whole other level. Everything about this place was awesome and hands down better than Disneyland and Disneyworld. The rides, the people, the souvenirs and definitely the food options!

Overall, I’m stoked we decided on going, we’ll definitely be back!

SEMA 2014!

It’s that time once again! At the beginning of every year a lot of OEM manufacturers begin accepting proposals for their annual SEMA builds and this year was no exception. Once we get everything ready, proposals are sent off and then it’s a waiting game until early summer when the announcements are made and cars are awarded. Having a great relationship with the team at Ford Motor Company and Honda North America, we were awarded three vehicles – a 2015 Expedition and, a 2015 Fiesta ST, and a 2015 Honda Fit.

Neil’s Neil decided to go with an all metal widebody theme aired down on a set of 24″ Rotiform wheels and I decided to go with a modern vintage theme on the Fiesta ST. Once everything was said and done, we were all surprised to walk into the Central Hall at the SEMA Show to find that our two cars were right at the main entrance of the Ford booth! Over at the Honda Booth, the all metal widebody Honda Fit was also on display front and center sitting a set of iForged wheels.

Towards the end of the week, the rest of the family made the trip out to Vegas to join us and see all of the cars, Collin even had the chance to go for a ride along with Vaughn Gittin Jr!

Off to visit grandpa in Suriname! #jkgsuriname2014

Ever since my dad moved back home to Suriname, we’ve tried to go back every so many years and visit him and the rest of the family. Having been almost five years since we last visited, we figured we’d make the trip down.

We spent most of the trip just hanging out with my dad and the family, eating and trying to get fat and doing touristy things. Overall, it’s always a great time seeing my dad and even better when we’re all able to make the trip down there as a family. Check below for pictures of the trip and a little video I put together as well.

Tokyo, Kyoto and More!

After I wrapped up my Tokyo Auto Salon workload, we hung around Tokyo for a day or so and then hopped on the Shinkansen to Kyoto. Having been there the previous year without Jude, I figured we’d make our way down so they could see it. On the agenda were two places I had never been before, the first being the Kinkaku-ji, officially named Rokuon-ji or the Golden Pavilion and the second was the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove as well as a few others that I’ve made sure to stop by every time I’ve been down to Kyoto.

It’s always nice to get away from Tokyo, even if it’s for a day or two, just to get down to the “old” Japan. Regardless of where we end up, there’s no doubt that Japan will always be at the top of the list of places to see for me.

Tokyo Auto Salon 2014!

Once again I was fortunate enough to have my good friends at AutoGuide.com fly me out to Tokyo for the annual Tokyo Auto Salon. This is my third trip out for the event and each and every year it seems like the quality continues to get better and better. Below are some of my favorite shots and cars from the event.

Jude’s First One-On-One with Grandpa!

With schedules clearing up and everything else finally slowing down, we finally had a chance to take Jude on his first cross country flight to go visit grandpa out in Pennsylvania. The moment these two met, you could feel the love they had towards each other. Whether Jude was sitting in grandpas lap or lying down holding his hand, these two were inseparable the entire time.

Unfortunately this was the only time that Jude was able to spend with grandpa who passed a few months later. We all cherish the time we had with you, sir and I’m forever grateful for allowing me to marry your one and only daughter. Thanks for always being genuine.

We miss you, grandpa.

San Francisco – I Love You.

Missing our friends in San Francisco, we decided yo make a weekend out of it and go check out the WEKFEST event at the same time. As usual, eating was the centerpiece of the the trip – because well, we’re heifers. Oh yeah, this was Jude’s first trip on an airplane and he rocked it!

CES 2013!

For this year’s CES Show, our friends at Scosche asked us if we wanted to come out and check the show out. Having been last year and also being into gadgets and all that, we figured we’d go. Usually we go to check out the ridiculously oversized tlevisions we can’t afford and this year was the same, with the exception of Audi pretty much showing the best booth I’ve ever seen. As simple as it was, the actual set up was just awesome.
