Family Day at the LACMA!

I really suck at keeping this updated… I really do and I apologize. After this update, I’m going to do my best to work backwards and update the posts that I just haven’t had time / been motivated to update. Anyhow… to the update:

We decided that it had been too long since we were at the LACMA last, well over five or so years, so we decided to head to LA and check it out. Even though Jude is a little under the weather, we decided to brave it out and see how he’d do. At the end of it, I’m glad we made the trip because we were able to see a lot of awesome things that we’d only seen online such as a lot of Pablo Picasso and Warhol pieces as well as a lot of the interactive installations. Overall, it was a good day well spent at the LACMA!

A Trip to the Long Beach Aquarium.

Last Christmas we received some annual passes to the Long Beach Aquarium from my side-lady, Denny and we finally put them to use. We figured we’d make the drive up to Long Beach with Jude to check the jellyfish exhibit and some of the other new things they had.

Jude’s Second Birthday! [ The Festivities! ]

Birthday festivities for my man! We’re fortunate enough to have great family and friends around that take the time to come hang out and spend time with us on certain occasions. Somehow this past year has flown by and this dude is already two!

Jude’s Second Birthday! [ Disneyland Visit! ]

My man just turned two! It’s been a ritual that we’ve gone to Disneyland to celebrate on his actual birthday so this year was no different. We took the family and Neil and his family joined us as well.

Tokyo / Kyoto Things!

The rest of our trip out to Tokyo consisted of touristy things since Neil and the family and Scottie had never been out this way before. We roamed around the city, ate, saw rad things and even took a day trip out to Kyoto to change it up a little. Overall, it was yet another amazing trip to a country that never ceases to amaze me. I’ve been fortunate enough to come here four times now and I’m nowhere near tired of this beautiful country.

Tokyo Auto Salon 2015!

As I mentioned earlier, the main reason why we went out to Japan again was for Tokyo Auto Salon. I’ve been fortunate enough to go to the event four times now thanks to my best lady friend, Jason Siu and the AutoGuide.com staff except this year we also had another reason – COPLUS Lighting flew our Honda Fit out to the event to be displayed in their booth.

Having done our fair share of traveling to other cities and states throughout our time doing automotive things, this is only the second time that we’ve had someone take one of our cars overseas, particularly Asia – the last time we had our Chevrolet Camaro taken to Shanghai.

Overall the show was awesome as always. Tons of incredible builds, lots of new things to look at and as always, being entertained by the hundreds of horny Asian dudes taking pictures of the models.

Toyko Disneyland!

Going to Japan had always been on the bucket list that I never had and after missing several opportunities to go in my twenties, I’ve been fortunate to go four out of the last five years. This year I wasn’t able to bring Kim and Jude with me but Neil, Mei, Collin, Kylie and our good friend, Scottie made the trip out. Pretty much every trip I’ve made been out there has been to cover Tokyo Auto Salon for AutoGuide.com but this year was also special because CoPlus Lighting transported the Honda Fit SEMA project out there as a display vehicle for their booth.

As usual, we flew in to Tokyo the day before just to get settled in so once we arrived we got to the hotel and got some rest for what was to come. Early the following day, we had until early afternoon to roam around so we figured we’d make the most of it and headed to Tokyo Disneyland. Having season passes to Disneyland here in Southern California, we tend to go pretty often but Tokyo Disneyland is on a whole other level. Everything about this place was awesome and hands down better than Disneyland and Disneyworld. The rides, the people, the souvenirs and definitely the food options!

Overall, I’m stoked we decided on going, we’ll definitely be back!

Here Comes Santa Claus!

The annual Santa Claus visit… didn’t go as planned! Out of the three cousins that went to go visit the man from the North Pole, only Collin didn’t completely hate it. Kylie and Jude were over it well before it was our turn and from the looks on their faces in the pictures below, it’s pretty obvious this was far from a success.

Off to visit grandpa in Suriname! #jkgsuriname2014

Ever since my dad moved back home to Suriname, we’ve tried to go back every so many years and visit him and the rest of the family. Having been almost five years since we last visited, we figured we’d make the trip down.

We spent most of the trip just hanging out with my dad and the family, eating and trying to get fat and doing touristy things. Overall, it’s always a great time seeing my dad and even better when we’re all able to make the trip down there as a family. Check below for pictures of the trip and a little video I put together as well.
