San Francisco, Take 59! +

This past weekend Kim, Shawn and myself took the 400+ mile drive up I-5 for a nice getaway in San Francisco. The itinerary for the weekend included spending time with great friends, eating incredible food, roaming around my favorite city in the States and getting down with some white water rafting on the American River!

After getting some well needed rest following a 3:00am arrival time, we took off for Union Square to grab some brunch at Sears Fine Foods. After brunch, we met up with one of Kim’s friends in the Fillmore area and then took of for Haight Street for some shopping and whatnot. We finished off the night with meeting up with a couple more friends and dinner at what could be the sketchiest looking place but greatest tasting Chinese food I’ve ever had at Fung Wah.

Saturday we finally had the chance to sleep in a little bit and then headed to the TL to grab some lunch at Brenda’s. Beignets, Po’ Boys, peach cobbler pancakes, egg and bacon tartine and some other stuff were on the menu and just like the rest of the meals, this was spot on.

After lunch, we took off for the Marina to check out the Wave Organ and the Exploratorium. From there we took off to Dolores Park for some window shopping, a visit to the Levi’s Workshop of course, some Bi-Rite Creamery action.

We finished off the night with an incredible meal at The House downtown where I managed to leave my camera at home so we could just sit down, talk shop and enjoy the food.

Sunday morning we were up well before sunrise to make the 120 or so mile drive to Auburn, CA to meet up with the crew from O.A.R.S. so we could hit the river! Although the water was freezing, the mid 90 degree temperatures made for an amazing day on the river with beautiful blue skies and mother nature all around.

Before we took the always lovely drive back home on Monday, Kim, Shawn and I stopped at another favorite spot, Borobudur for some Indonesian goodness! Soto soup, Nasi Goreng, Bami Goreng and more… never dissapoints!

As usual, San Francisco treated us great. A big “thank you” to Dantana Nguyen and Krisheila O’Campo for the hospitality, these trips wouldn’t be possible without you guys!
