Off to visit grandpa in Suriname! #jkgsuriname2014

Ever since my dad moved back home to Suriname, we’ve tried to go back every so many years and visit him and the rest of the family. Having been almost five years since we last visited, we figured we’d make the trip down.

We spent most of the trip just hanging out with my dad and the family, eating and trying to get fat and doing touristy things. Overall, it’s always a great time seeing my dad and even better when we’re all able to make the trip down there as a family. Check below for pictures of the trip and a little video I put together as well.

Saddleback / SoCal Elite Youth Basketball Camp!

Since Collin’s been playing a ton of basketball, most of which has been with SoCal Elite, we organized and helped run a youth basketball camp in conjunction with Saddleback Church. The age range was from five to ten and we had about seventy kids take part. Overall, the camp was a huge success and hopefully there will be more in the future.

Jude’s First Birthday!

This first year flew by! It’s been a great ride so far with lots of laughs, some traveling and a lot of poop diapers but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. This little dude has been the biggest blessing and every minute spent with him makes me forget about all of the nonsense that goes on in the world around me.

A big “thank you” to everyone that made it out, we really appreciate all of you! Happy birthday, best friend. Mommy and daddy love you!

Collin Tjin / Coach Keion Kindred

Since Collin’s been playing more and more basketball, we figured we’d take him up to Los Angeles to get in a Friday night training session with coach Keion Kindred. Even though it’s a bit of a drive, the experience with coach Keion and his team was well worth it!

Tokyo, Kyoto and More!

After I wrapped up my Tokyo Auto Salon workload, we hung around Tokyo for a day or so and then hopped on the Shinkansen to Kyoto. Having been there the previous year without Jude, I figured we’d make our way down so they could see it. On the agenda were two places I had never been before, the first being the Kinkaku-ji, officially named Rokuon-ji or the Golden Pavilion and the second was the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove as well as a few others that I’ve made sure to stop by every time I’ve been down to Kyoto.

It’s always nice to get away from Tokyo, even if it’s for a day or two, just to get down to the “old” Japan. Regardless of where we end up, there’s no doubt that Japan will always be at the top of the list of places to see for me.

Tokyo Auto Salon 2014!

Once again I was fortunate enough to have my good friends at AutoGuide.com fly me out to Tokyo for the annual Tokyo Auto Salon. This is my third trip out for the event and each and every year it seems like the quality continues to get better and better. Below are some of my favorite shots and cars from the event.

Jude’s First Christmas!

As usual we decided to keep Christmas somewhat low key but since it was Jude’s first we got him everything he didn’t even know he wanted. Toys didn’t really interest him but everything else in the kitchen did so we got him some random stuff that he just liked chewing on. Dude’s a weirdo… our weirdo.

Halloweeeeeeen!

Jude’s first halloween was a success! Since he’s not too fond of wearing things on his head we racked our brain to come up with something and in the end we went with the obvious choice… a hot dog!
