Miami: May 2010 / Part Tres!

AR-15′s, Cuban food and of course, JoAnn Tjin becoming Dr. JoAnn Tjin!

We kicked the day off waking up nice and early to go to the shooting range with Erik, Emilio and their arsenal of weapons. On the way to the shooting range, we stopped at Emilio’s old place to pick up an old “A11 STAR” license plate that he had on his MR2 back in the day. After that, Kim, Neil, Warren, Rachel and myself joined Erik at the range to get some shooting in. We signed up, purchased some extra ammunition, put on our “eyes and ears” and got to work. We had an hour to shoot and within that hour Kim pretty much destroyed all of us. Neil was on and off, Warren was on and off, I was on and off (and somehow managed to hit the target in the lane next to me,twice,) and Rachel, well Rachel was well, Rachel. Overall, we had a blast even though most of us sucked, myself more than others unfortunately. Since I wasn’t allowed to take my camera in there, just imagine the site of several skinny Asian kids carrying shooting big guns.

After the range, we headed down south to meet up with a few others and to grab some lunch at Sergio’s, which was might tasty.

Four o’clock is here and it’s go time! We made our way down to the University of Miami for JoAnn’s graduation ceremony. It’s been years in the making and the time had finally arrived. Although the commencement speech was a little drawn out, the rest of the ceremony was great. With only 157 students being called, we made sure to be as loud as possible when JoAnn was called. She made her way up, cheering ensued and my sister was officially a doctor.

I’m so glad that we were all able to be there for her on this amazing day, I can’t wait to see the great things that are in store for her!

After the ceremony, we headed down to Los Rachos at The Falls and got down on some amazing Churrasco! It was great to see everyone together, considering it’s been forever since that’s happened. I’m glad everyone was able to be in the same place and have everything go as well as it did. JoAnn, you have no idea how proud we all are of you and the things you’ve accomplished!

Sunday morning, we were up nice and early to catch my little brother play the guitar in his church band. I’ve only seen him play live once before but seeing the progress he’s made since then is awesome. Nick, you did great and can’t wait to see what else you’ve got coming up!
